Job Title: Infield Technician – Zero Spill Systems

Job Summary

The Infield Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and removal of rental zero-spill systems on well rig Blowout Preventer (BOP) equipment. This position supports drilling operations by ensuring zero-spill equipment is installed, secured, and removed in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer specifications, customer requirements, and applicable safety standards.

The technician works directly with rig personnel, field supervisors, and operations management to complete installations and removals safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime and preventing spills or equipment damage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Travel to drilling rigs and customer locations to install and uninstall rental zero-spill systems on BOP equipment.
• Safely position, assemble, secure, and disassemble zero-spill system components according to approved procedures.
• Inspect rental equipment before installation and after removal for damage, wear, missing components, and proper operating condition.
• Verify equipment is properly installed and secured before turning the system over to rig personnel.
• Assist with equipment testing and verification in accordance with approved procedures and customer requirements.
• Coordinate installation and removal activities with rig personnel, company supervisors, and other contractors.
• Follow all rig-site safety policies, job safety analyses (JSAs), and applicable permit-to-work requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings, pre-job briefings, and hazard assessments.
• Use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and other approved equipment safely and correctly.
• Identify and report equipment defects, leaks, damaged components, and unsafe working conditions.
• Maintain accurate installation records, inspection checklists, rental equipment inventories, and field service reports.
• Load, unload, secure, and transport equipment as required.
• Maintain tools, company vehicles, and rental equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Communicate job progress, delays, equipment needs, and field issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Represent the company professionally while working with customers and drilling contractors.
• Perform other field operations duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous oilfield, drilling rig, BOP, rental equipment, or field service experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, installation procedures, and safety requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, if driving is required.
• Ability to travel to drilling rigs and work at remote locations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a field operations team.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, extended shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends as operational needs require.
• Ability to complete required site-specific safety training and certifications.

Safety Responsibilities

• Follow all company, customer, and rig-site safety policies.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify pinch points, suspended-load hazards, dropped-object hazards, pressure-related hazards, and other job-site risks.
• Never work under suspended loads or enter hazardous areas without proper authorization and controls.
• Verify required equipment isolation, pressure-control, and energy-control procedures are followed by authorized personnel before work begins.
• Stop work and notify supervision when unsafe conditions or unexpected equipment conditions are identified.
• Never modify, bypass, or use equipment outside approved operating procedures.
• Maintain awareness of surrounding rig operations and coordinate work to prevent conflicts with other crews.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in restricted spaces as required and permitted by site procedures.
• Ability to lift and move equipment and components using approved lifting methods and assistance when necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and industrial environments.
• Ability to work around drilling equipment, heavy machinery, and elevated work areas while following site-specific controls.
• Ability to travel and work at remote oilfield locations.

Performance Expectations

• Complete installations and removals safely, correctly, and within scheduled time frames.
• Ensure equipment is accounted for and inspected before and after each rental.
• Maintain accurate service records and report equipment issues promptly.
• Minimize equipment damage, lost components, and avoidable operational delays.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with rig personnel and customers.
• Demonstrate consistent compliance with safety procedures and company standards.

General Statement

The Infield Technician plays an important role in supporting oilfield drilling operations by ensuring rental zero-spill systems are installed and removed safely and efficiently on well rig BOPs. The employee is expected to protect company assets, follow approved procedures, maintain a strong safety culture, and provide dependable field service to customers.
