Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist – Medical Director
Location: Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

Reports To: Division Chief, Cardiology

Position Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a skilled Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) cardiologist to take the helm of our well-established ACHD program. This pivotal role will focus on steering the program towards ACHA accreditation while fostering a collaborative approach that encompasses cardiology, cardiac surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, electrophysiology, imaging, and advanced heart failure and transplant services.

The ideal candidate will become part of a dynamic cardiovascular division within a tertiary and quaternary care setting, acting as both a clinical leader and a strong advocate for adult patients with congenital heart conditions.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is between $500,000 and $700,000 annually.

The final compensation package will be influenced by various factors, including the candidate’s educational qualifications, expertise, and professional background.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Offer clinical leadership and oversee the ACHD program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across both inpatient and outpatient environments.
• Lead the ACHA credentialing and accreditation efforts for the ACHD program.
• Design and execute comprehensive clinical pathways, outreach programs, and quality metrics for ACHD.
• Work in partnership with pediatric cardiology, adult cardiology subspecialties, cardiac surgery, and maternal-fetal medicine to coordinate care for patients with complex congenital heart disease.
• Guide cardiology fellows and trainees; engage in academic and research initiatives related to ACHD.
• Establish referral networks with community cardiologists and referring physicians within our health system.
• Enhance program visibility through education, outreach, and collaboration with regional academic partners.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD).
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, or eligibility through a “grandfathered” pathway.
• Must be eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey.
• Strong foundation in academic medicine, clinical research, and physician development.
• Experience collaborating with pediatric cardiac programs is highly desirable.
• Structural heart specialists with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
