Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS required ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification is a plus Must-Have: Experience with general MedSurg patients Experience with post-operative care for procedures such as lap chole or lap appy Experience with oncology patients facing complications like neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections Ability to administer chemotherapy is preferred Experience with chest tubes, especially PleurX chest tubes Ability to titrate Heparin drips Experience reading and interpreting telemetry strips Description: This position involves caring for a mix of general MedSurg and oncology patients. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. The unit consists of 36 beds, accommodating both private and shared spaces. Registered Nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry strips from Phillips monitors. A charge nurse is available 24/7; however, they do not take patient assignments during the day shifts. Certified Nursing Assistants are present on the unit during both day and night shifts, assisting with patient care. Respiratory therapy is available, and nurses may use CPAP and BiPap equipment. The unit operates with 12-hour shifts starting at 7 AM and 7 PM. Every-other-weekend shifts are required, as are holiday rotations in accordance with the permanent staff schedule. Travelers may float to other units based on staffing needs, though they will not have a full patient load if floating to a lower acuity unit. Proper scrubs per designated colors are needed as per unit requirements. This role emphasizes teamwork and effective communication among nursing staff.
