Fieger Law is looking to hire an experienced Appellate Legal Assistant to work in our Southfield office. Personal injury law firm experience preferred, but not a requirement. This is a full-time position, non-remote.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of appellate procedures, court rules, and filing requirements. You will work closely with our appellate attorneys to manage dockets, format briefs, and ensure flawless submissions to state and federal appellate courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Appellate Filings: Prepare, format, and electronically file (e-file) motions, briefs, and appendices in compliance with local, state, and federal appellate rules (including SCOTUS and regional Circuit Courts).
• Document Formatting: Generate tables of contents and tables of authorities using Microsoft Word or specialized legal software.
• Docket Management: Maintain the appellate calendar, tracking strict deadlines for notices of appeal, briefing schedules, and oral arguments.
• Record Assembly: Coordinate and assemble large records on appeal, ensuring proper pagination and indexing.
• Proofreading & Editing: Review legal documents for proper Bluebook citation formatting, grammar, and consistency.

Knowledge of Practice Master and Netdox is preferred but not required. Potential candidate must have the ability to multi-task, work well in a team environment, have superior communication skills and be highly organized and detail oriented. You must be able to work well under pressure.
