Position Summary The Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) assists veterinarians and the medical support team in delivering high‑quality, compassionate care to pets and their families. Responsibilities include clinical tasks, client education, and maintaining a safe, efficient hospital environment. Primary Responsibilities Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including IV catheter placement, CRI management, medication administration, feeding tube placement, and monitoring. Prepare, monitor, and recover patients undergoing surgery, ensuring safety and comfort. Assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures. Perform laboratory diagnostics (urinalysis, hematology, feces, cytology), document, interpret, and communicate results. Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (radiology, ultrasound) in compliance with safety standards. Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments per DEA, OSHA, and hospital regulations. Maintain accurate controlled‑drug logs and ensure proper handling and storage. Create, review, and enter treatment plans in the medical record system. Support operations through medical record keeping, charge entry, and chart auditing. Educate clients about preventative care, treatment plans, medications, products, and nutrition. Maintain a clean, sterile treatment and surgical area. Monitor inventory, rotate stock, and assist with ordering supplies. Promote a positive workplace culture through teamwork and collaboration. Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with legal and policy requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Veterinary Technician credential required; minimum two years of CVT experience preferred. Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, radiology, and dentistry. Basic computer skills (practice‑management software, Microsoft Office). Strong communication and organizational skills with teamwork ability. Professionalism, composure, and sound judgment in high‑stress situations. Multitasking ability in a fast‑paced, accurate environment. Compassionate commitment to patient care and client service. Safe handling of cleaning chemicals, anesthetic gases, radiation, zoonotic diseases, and animal fluids. Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals up to 130 pounds. Comfortable with prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling. Professional, neat appearance consistent with hospital standards. Hours Flexible schedule; available at all practice hours.
