The Opportunity The Account Manager II manages a book of insurance business and provides professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues. This role involves managing complex risk and exposures, supporting producers and other staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business, and exercising a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision‑making. Duties & Responsibilities Work closely with producers and HUB personnel on client service, marketing, and renewal while adhering to HUB’s best practices and procedures. Provide professional, courteous service to clients and partners, achieving account retention that meets or exceeds expectations. Oversee and, when needed, perform the preparation and implementation of transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts; act as backup for other support staff. Acquire understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans to determine suitability. Coordinate implementation of the client’s strategic plan, including value‑added services such as Pre‑Renewal Strategic Planning, Risk ID Assessments, Contract Reviews, Claims Reviews, Market Analysis, Stewardship Reports, and Deductible Analysis. Act as liaison between clients and carriers to resolve escalated service issues requiring policy interpretation and judgment; negotiate with underwriters and carriers, and troubleshoot claims and billing issues. Identify opportunities for cross‑sell and up‑sell of HUB products and services; document other insurance products purchased through other providers. Possibly be responsible for account rounding and development of new business as appropriate and in accordance with standard practices, policies, and procedures. Manage, organize, and conduct client meetings independently or with the producer. Maintain accurate and organized account files, updating all HUB computer systems and ensuring data accuracy. Prepare reports, proposals, and comparisons for management as required. Stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and recommend appropriate actions to clients; attend industry continuing education training and courses. Oversee functions performed by less experienced account managers and assistant account managers as needed, and mentor and train other support staff. Provide a high level of support to sales staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Five or more years of account management experience (brokerage preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Property & Casualty license. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills with internal and external customers. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and agency management systems. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions. Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry. Confidence and demeanor to interact effectively at all organizational levels. Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and work with vendors. Customer‑focused service, soliciting feedback and handling difficult situations promptly. Mathematical skills to calculate discounts, commissions, and other figures. Strong prioritization and organizational skills to meet deadlines with optimal accuracy. Teamwork and coaching abilities. Work Conditions And Physical Demands Primarily stationary during most of the workday. Frequent communication with colleagues and clients in person and by telephone. Constant computer use and handling of office machinery. Occasional movement within the office to access file cabinets and equipment. Salary & Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 – $100,000 depending on geographic location and other factors.
