Infection Control Preventionist (RN or LPN)

Tuscany Village Nursing Center – Oklahoma City, OK The Infection Control Preventionist (LPN) is invited to join our team to promote, coordinate, and monitor our state‑of‑the‑art infection control program within assigned skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Under the leadership of our Chief Clinical Officer and Director of Infection Control Programming, the Regional IC Consultant will work directly with Regional Nurse Consultants, Regional Directors of Operations, and facility Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Infection Control Specialists and other staff members to ensure that each facility has fully implemented all aspects of our infection control program, designed to comply with CDC, CMS, OSHA and other federal and state guidelines. The Infection Control Preventionist (LPN) will provide training and supervision to facility‑based Infection Control Specialists and will be responsible for evaluating each facility’s adherence to the program and designing remedial action plans to ensure regulatory compliance and resident and staff safety. Working alongside other Tuscany Village Nursing Center executive staff members, the company’s IC Preventionist will be a significant contributor to infection control planning at the corporate, regional and facility levels, including the development of policies, protocols, and training programs to improve patient care and safety. Job Duties and Responsibilities Investigate, monitor, and communicate known or potential sources of suspected infections to determine sources and minimize spread. Demonstrate strong knowledge of standard methods and criteria for identifying nosocomial infections using an epidemiological approach that consists of surveillance, data collection, and trending for identification. Instruct and counsel patients and staff on infection control issues and concerns. Collaborate with other members of the team to follow up on exposure incidents. Serve on the Quality Committee. Provide infection control monthly summaries and any additional infection control alerts to the facility leadership and quality committee monthly and to include an annual summary. Utilize computerized documentation systems to access relevant patient data. Provide new staff orientation and ongoing mentoring regarding infection control practices. Follow standard precautions and appropriate CDC‑recommended isolation categories using personal protective equipment as required. Ensure process in place to identify and monitor those patients requiring isolation for an infectious disease. Be responsible for the implementation of the infection control policy manual. Provide ongoing education to nursing and ancillary staff on infection control practice, current CDC guidelines and regulatory standards. Coordinate annual review, revision, and evaluation for the infection control plan. Participate in staff meetings, patient care conferences and other committees as required. Participate in mandatory department and facility in‑services and education programs. Maintain ongoing education to improve job performance. Demonstrate sensitivities to culturally diverse patient population. Proactively seek team building and positive working relationships with all facility and medical staff. Participate in facility or departmental performance improvement activities, and seek opportunities to improve department and inter‑department processes. Demonstrate flexibility regarding assignments. Perform special assignments as needed or requested. Minimum Position Requirements Infection Control Certification and experience is strongly desired. Current LPN license in the State of practice is required. Good interpersonal, and verbal & written communication skills. Able to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
