Base pay range: $26.80/hr - $26.80/hr Job Description Responsibilities: Involved in infection prevention of endoscope preparation critical for patient safety; reprocess endoscopes—preclean, leak test, decontaminate, inspect, disinfect, transport, and store according to industry standards, guidelines, regulations, and manufacturer instructions. Assist nurses and physicians during endoscopic procedures, including emergencies, using endoscopes, accessories, and therapeutic equipment; assist in obtaining biopsy specimens and polyps under RN supervision (if applicable). Maintain professional relationships within unit and with physicians; promote positive public relations; seek guidance; maintain accurate records and logs related to reprocessing scopes and QA monitoring. Observe isolation and standard precautions; maintain patient identifiers, handwashing guidelines; provide safety and comfort measures; handle specimens and dirty equipment to prevent cross‑contamination. Initiate friendly, professional rapport with patients; respond timely to needs; follow HIPAA guidelines; respect patient privacy and dignity. Support teamwork; accept assignments promptly; facilitate normal operations during emergencies; obtain approval for reprioritization if deviating from assignments. Maintain skill level through yearly competencies, mandatory training, seminars, staff meetings; follow HR policies; orient and train new employees; adhere to PRIDE values. Follow daily schedule to ensure correct endoscope availability; set up procedure rooms; test scopes; troubleshoot equipment; turn over rooms efficiently; stock rooms and prepare for the next day. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Ability to read, write and speak English. Current BLS at time of hire, or attain within 60 days. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Certification preferred. Experience: 2 years in endoscopy technician or central sterile reprocessing preferred.
