Job Description

This role focuses on service work and project oversight across residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems. The master plumber diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of plumbing issues, ensures all work meets code and quality standards, and serves as the licensed professional responsible for permit sign-off and compliance. The position also provides guidance and mentorship to apprentices and journeyman plumbers while supporting estimating, scheduling, and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems, including water, waste, vent, gas, and fixture systems.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to service calls and provide effective solutions to plumbing issues.
  • Perform detailed inspections of plumbing systems and provide clear recommendations to customers.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through professional communication, clean work practices, and quality workmanship.
  • Complete service documentation, work orders, and job reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Act as the licensed professional responsible for permit sign-off and ensuring code compliance for all plumbing work.
  • Review plumbing installations to verify quality, safety, and adherence to workmanship standards.
  • Coordinate inspections with local municipalities and inspectors to ensure all work passes required reviews.
  • Ensure all work complies with Minnesota Plumbing Code and relevant local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Maintain required professional licensing and complete necessary continuing education to stay current with codes and best practices.
  • Review plans and specifications for service and small-project work to confirm feasibility and compliance.
  • Assist with estimating service jobs and small projects, providing accurate scope and cost input.
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of technicians and apprentices to optimize workflow and project timelines.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs and quality assurance inspections to confirm that completed work meets standards and customer expectations.
  • Train and mentor apprentice and journeyman plumbers, sharing technical knowledge and promoting safe, high-quality work practices.

Essential Skills

  • Active Minnesota plumbing license.
  • Minimum of 7 years of plumbing experience, with a strong focus on service work.
  • Extensive background in plumbing system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing codes and regulations, including Minnesota Plumbing Code and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Experience with construction supervision and oversight of plumbing installations.
  • Proficiency in installing plumbing systems and components, including PVC piping.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to coordinate with inspectors and municipal authorities regarding permits and inspections.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing plans and specifications for service and small-project work.
  • Ability to support scheduling and coordination of plumbing technicians and apprentices.
  • Experience conducting final walkthroughs and quality assurance inspections.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
