How You’ll Contribute The Storytelling team works to expand the organization’s impact through journalism, photography, film/video, web content, mapping, and data visualization. As one of the largest funders to individual storytellers in this work, it also identifies key grantmaking, and programmatic opportunities with creative talent. Much of the team’s activity is focused on identifying and building capacity for the next generation of storytellers. Reporting to Explorer in Residence for Photo Camp, the Production Manager, Photo Camp is responsible for ensuring day‑to‑day execution of the Photo Camp program. The Production Manager is responsible for production and logistics coordination for Photo Camps worldwide, and supports the implementation of the program’s strategy by managing event and travel planning, budgets, contracts, logistics related to the program’s operations, and ensuring coordination between internal stakeholders. Extensive travel is required to manage logistics in the field on Photo Camps worldwide. Your Impact Production Operations (25%) Pre and post production planning and implementation of Photo Camp operations worldwide. Operations support – managing logistics for Photo Camps including travel, accommodation, booking event venues and camp transportation, student registration. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support the overall needs of the program. Collaborate with Staff Volunteer Logistics Assistants. Support the Photo Camp team’s priority of documenting Production, Logistics, Staffing and Budget details on our teams’ Production Brief and Airtable systems. On‑Site Production Event Support (75%) Provide on‑ground logistics support and event production during selected National Geographic Photo Camps. Extensive travel is required to domestic and international 5–7 day Photo Camps off campus. Serve as the NGS contact between the students, community liaisons, and partners for each Photo Camp. Educational Background Bachelor’s degree in operations management, communications, or a related field, with education and experience in event production or logistics management. Minimum Years and Types of Experience 5+ years working in a production or logistics environment. Proven track record of coordinating multiple initiatives simultaneously. Experience designing presentations, working with photographic and video assets, and coordinating multifaceted activities is a plus, along with strong writing and communication skills. Necessary Knowledge and Skills Strong project management skills. Experience keeping track of multiple projects, details, and timelines. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; collaborative team player. Driven by curiosity, with strong problem‑solving and critical thinking skills. Self‑motivated and inquisitive. High proficiency in Microsoft Office, Airtable, and Keynote applications. Strong event production and organizational skills. Supervision No direct reports. Collaboration with NGS Staff Volunteer Tech Directors and Logistics Assistants. Salary Information The National Geographic Society offers a competitive and holistic total rewards package. Our compensation structure and transparent pay philosophy are based on industry‑specific market data for similar‑sized nonprofit organizations. The salary range for this position is $76,950.00 – $81,000.00.
