Job Description Summary Provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics including decentralized pharmaceutical support services at the patient care unit level; addresses the needs of nursing personnel regarding drug disposition and usage; counsels patients and health care professionals by providing general and patient specific drug information; ensures timely and medically appropriate dispensing of medication to patients for assigned units. Consults with medical staff about potential drug interactions, patient medical history, and the use of particular medications. Responds to questions from patients about medications and dosage instructions. Ensures that all required pharmacy data is recorded and maintained and complies with all regulatory, security and hospital procedures. Additional Job Description Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
