Working Custodial Supervisor - VCL

Position Summary This position will perform supervisory janitorial work. This will include supervising, directing, and participating (as dictated by account) in the work of subordinate custodial personnel. (Per industry standards, approximately 4,500 - 5,000 sq ft will need to be cleaned within 1 hour – this will vary by location). Weekly Hours and Schedule Weekly hours: 50+ hours a week. Schedule: Must have open availability from 12 PM to 12 AM, 7 days a week. Pay rate: $38,000 a/year. Duties and Responsibilities Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Custodial Services Department. Report to Building Representative for component performance for all custodial work. Covers shifts and performs general custodian duties when there are staffing shortages. Delivers and stocks supplies. Make daily routine inspections to ensure work is performed as specified; take immediate corrective action as required. Provides training to custodial staff on cleaning activities, SDS of all products and hazardous substances present in the building. Assist in development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and standards of work. Lead and guide custodial staff with proper training. Maintain proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by custodial staff. Recommend changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety or reduce costs. Provide ongoing technical and chemical training to all janitorial staff. Investigate, document, and report all unusual occurrences to the manager. Ensure all equipment is tested regularly. Maintain good working relationship with the client and building occupants and other departments. Report to work on time, dressed in company uniform, badge, black slip‑resistant safety shoes, and ensure staff is properly uniformed. In partnership with the Manager, inspect building and grounds to ensure clean and safe conditions. Evaluate the need for minor equipment repairs and recommend to Manager. Complete weekly inspections and report safety hazards to Manager. Follow safety procedures including PPE and infection control practices; clean bio‑waste and train staff on these procedures. Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Ensure custodial closets remain locked at all times and keys are signed in and out and left at the job site. Ensure equipment is left clean and ready for use at the end of the shift. Ensure high dusting with extension poles is fully completed and safely. Complete additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. 2 years of janitorial/cleaning experience. Valid driver’s license with 3 years of acceptable driving experience. Qualifications and Knowledge Knowledge of proper cleaning or polishing agents for various surfaces, including metals, woodwork floors, and floor coverings. Knowledge of safety ordinances and regulations. Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment; ability to instruct others in their use. Ability to understand documents such as Scope of Work and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and group settings to customers.
