Job Title: CVICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 1 year CVICU experience required License: Valid Compact License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CCRN Must-Have: - CVICU experience required - Previous charge experience preferred Description: First-time CVICU RN position available. This position requires floating between units. Weekends are required every other weekend. Block scheduling is required. Patient ratios expected are 1:1 and 1:2. No on-call duty required. The nursing team provides care for adults and geriatric patients. The daily census is approximately 22 patients. This unit has 28 beds. Typical patient diagnoses include post-open heart surgeries, vascular surgeries, post-myocardial infarction patients, and those requiring advanced cardiac life support. Special procedures and patient care include care of ventilated patients, management of dysrhythmias, and handling devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps and impellas. Other responsibilities include administering medications and blood products, monitoring vital signs, and interpreting arterial blood gases. The team collaborates with interdisciplinary support, including therapy, respiratory services, and other specialties as needed. This position may require floating to nearby facilities. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment.
