Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience, strong critical thinking and assessment skills Description: Must have level 1 trauma experience. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit test. Must pass fail exam on day 1 of orientation. All Registered Nurses will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. This is for travelers going to the main campus and/or Westgate campus. If a candidate indicates that they are not competent in Foley catheter insertion or central line dressing change, they may not be a good fit. Additionally, they will go through lifts, restraints, and wound care, which are educational-based. The unit has a total of 48 beds with 10 epilepsy specialty rooms. The expected nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 for days and nights. Charge nurses will have no patient assignments. Nurse aides will be present on the unit. There is a weekend shift requirement of three shifts in a four-week period. Holiday work will be integrated into the holiday rotation. Scrub colors include Grey's Anatomy and steel. Common diagnoses include epilepsy, trend EEGs, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, traumatic brain injuries, and other neuro conditions. Nurses are expected to detect small changes in patients. Utilize self-releasing velcro seat belts as needed. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting will be completed using an electronic system. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills are essential for this position.
