Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time position provides hands-on experience working within an educational environment, shaping students’ confidence and independence through mobility instruction. On-site presence is required throughout the academic year, beginning mid-August and concluding at the end of May.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• National Orientation and Mobility Certification required
• Vision Certification required
• School-based experience strongly preferred, but passionate candidates without this background are welcomed
• Ability to complete a two-part district onboarding process with timely submission of all required documentation
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with educational teams

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments, fostering increased independence
• Assess student needs and collaborate with Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to develop and implement appropriate instruction plans
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and required compliance paperwork
• Travel between assigned campuses as directed (exact schools and caseload to be determined)
• Participate in team meetings and provide training or guidance to staff and families as needed
