Behavioral Health Technician I

Responsibilities include supporting daily operations of recovery services, working closely with the treatment team to monitor progress, document behaviors, and facilitate educational and recreational activities. Key Responsibilities Ensure adherence to program expectations and rules, reporting behaviors to supervisors to assist with therapeutic interventions. Participate actively in the treatment team, identifying clients' strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences. Document and report exceptional behaviors and areas of concern during shift changes and in client records. Assist in the admission and orientation process, including obtaining vital signs and conducting safety searches. Coordinate incoming calls and respond to crisis situations as necessary. Educate and assist clients in performing daily activities as needed. Monitor client activities and document relevant behaviors, including bed checks during overnight shifts. Ensure all clients are accounted for and that precaution protocols are followed. Facilitate education or recreation groups as scheduled. Adhere to medication policies and collaborate with nursing staff to ensure compliance. Provide transportation for clients as needed. Maintain a standard of behavior consistent with agency expectations and program philosophy. Complete all mandatory trainings within required time frames. Attend staff and treatment team meetings as requested. Screen and monitor detoxification clients to ensure safety and recovery needs are met. Education and Experience High school education or equivalent with two (2) years of responsible employment history. Exceptions to the qualifications listed may be made by an appropriate executive team member. Bachelor’s degree or MAADC I or II for St. Louis County Programs. Additional Qualifications Evidence of being free from infectious and contagious diseases, such as TB, prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter. Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect. Completion of New Hire Orientation within 30 days of employment. First Aid and CPR certifications within three (3) months of beginning employment. Valid driver’s license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record. Minimum age 21 to operate a company‑owned vehicle; 23 to operate a company‑owned fifteen‑passenger van. Physical Requirements Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including the human body. Stations may require occasional walking and standing; otherwise, all other sedentary criteria are met.
