School Bus Driver

Job OverviewWe are seeking a responsible and dedicated School Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and related activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine interest in working with children. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, effective behavior management, and a commitment to providing a positive transportation experience for students. The School Bus Driver plays a vital role in ensuring student safety while fostering a welcoming environment during daily routes. ResponsibilitiesSafely operate school buses and other commercial vehicles following all traffic laws and safety regulations Transport students to designated locations, including schools, extracurricular activities, and special events Ensure the safety of all passengers by enforcing behavior management policies and maintaining order on the bus Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English or multilingual skills as may be needed Assist students with boarding and disembarking, including those with special needs or requiring childcare support Maintain accurate records of routes, student attendance, and any incidents that occur during transportation Follow all federal, state, and local regulations related to school transportation and commercial driving ExperienceProven experience in bus driving or commercial driving is preferred; prior experience with school bus driving or paratransit services is highly valued Strong communication skills suitable for interacting with children, parents, and school personnel Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance is advantageous for routine inspections and minor troubleshooting Experience working with children or in childcare settings demonstrates an understanding of student needs and behavior management techniques Multilingual abilities or experience in senior care or teaching can be beneficial for diverse student populations Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required; additional certifications such as CDL with passenger endorsement are preferred Familiarity with writing reports or documentation related to transportation activities enhances operational efficiency Job Type: Full-time Pay: $22.22 - $29.47 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 per week Benefits: 403(b)Dental insurance Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off Paid training Referral program Retirement plan Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Work Location: In person
