Central City Concern's 16XBurnside Recovery Center, a state‑of‑the‑art facility designed to meet a critical need in our community: providing extended residential treatment for individuals transitioning out of Hooper Detoxification and Stabilization Center. Treatment Assistants are responsible for providing care and close intensive supervision to all patients in a 24‑hour residential treatment facility. General responsibilities include: providing patient‑centered care, using de‑escalation skills, observing and reporting behaviors and supporting a healthy and safe milieu environment, providing high quality customer service, and other duties as needed. This position works closely with the Milieu Supervisor, counselors, and other staff to develop and implement a supportive environment for patients. Schedule: Friday - Monday, 10:45pm to 7:15am (Tuesday - Thursday off) Location: 16th & Burn Recovery Center (1616 E Burnside St. Portland, OR 97214) Compensation: $23.85/hr - $31.66/hr. Final comp will be determined based on relevant experience, education, credentials/licensure, and internal equity. External candidates: Offer max $27.68 per our Union contract. Minimum Qualifications Experience (must meet one of the following): HSD/GED AND one (1) year of work experience in a related field (e.g., shelter, residential or day treatment, counseling, substance abuse treatment) HSD/GED AND two (2) years of in‑person, high‑volume customer service experience or two (2) years of volunteer experience in a related field which would be considered half‑credit (e.g., 4 years of customer service in a non‑medical office setting would be considered 2 years credit; 2 years volunteer in related field is considered 1 year) Associate’s degree in Social Services, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field Bachelor’s degree in any field Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA Knowledge of Twelve‑Step Recovery process Have, or be able to obtain, Adult CPR prior to start date Must have current Adult First Aid Certification prior to start date Must adhere to Central City Concern’s drug‑free workplace and strictly comply with the Drug‑Free Workplace Act of 1988 Valid driver's license preferred. If required to drive, must pass a DMV background check and be designated an "acceptable" driver as outlined in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety Policy. If required to drive, must pass an initial driver's training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training. Must generally have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen, TB test, and background check, including clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit Must adhere to agency’s non‑discrimination policies Ability to effectively interact with coworkers and patients with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, religious views, political affiliations, sexual orientation and treat each individual with respect and dignity Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides quality patient care while promoting dignity, independence, and choice, and regularly observes physical and mental conditions and reports changes to counselor and/or appropriate center staff Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with patients, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors Monitors patients by conducting bed check census on night shift and makes rounds of dorm areas, day room, and restrooms Assists RN by taking patient’s vital signs as requested, recording and charting per procedure during medication pass, and informs nursing staff of any unusual vital signs Coordinates residents’ activities as detailed on the weekly schedule Performs facility maintenance, including monitoring and supervision of patients’ performance of facility chores and weekly tasks Attends staff meetings and trainings Answers phone and performs various clerical duties as needed Observes self‑administered patient medications and maintains accurate records, reporting non‑adherence to clinical and medical staff Administers and documents observed urine drug screen (UDS) analysis Assists patients in completing paperwork from other agencies If driving, transports residents to and from activities and appointments as needed Participates in non‑clinical patient and staff group meetings Reviews records for accuracy and maintains filing systems Implements self‑sufficiency, treatment or discharge plans as directed by clinical staff Attends all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner Adheres to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security Performs other duties as assigned Skills and Abilities Understanding of substance use disorders as a disease, including treatment and intervention methods Ability to work both as a team member and independently Ability to learn requirements of HIPAA, confidentiality and boundaries, and incorporate into daily job performance Ability to clearly communicate expectations and consequences to patients Ability to manage complex and multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks Ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing with patients, co‑workers, corrections personnel, police, and other community members Ability to work with people from a diverse range of ethnic and socio‑economic backgrounds, including those with dual diagnoses or other disabilities who may display hostility Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork Knowledge of and ability to utilize de‑escalation techniques when encountering volatile situations High degree of comfort and sufficient advancement in personal recovery to appropriately facilitate patients in theirs Demonstrated understanding of professional and personal boundaries in the workplace Union Representation AFSCME Union – this position is Union represented through the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.
