Physician Assistant - Orthopedic Surgery
This full-time Physician Assistant role focuses on orthopedic surgery in Mammoth Lakes, CA, delivering comprehensive care for joint, sports, and acute injuries. The position collaborates closely with surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to diagnose, treat, and educate patients, supporting a high-volume, active patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive orthopedic care in collaboration with surgeons and the broader healthcare team.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with orthopedic conditions and injuries.
- Assist with management of patients undergoing total joint and knee procedures.
- Evaluate and treat sports-related injuries, including skiing and snowboarding injuries.
- Participate in assessment and treatment of acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Assist surgeons with surgical procedures and provide perioperative patient care.
- Perform patient histories, physical examinations, and orthopedic assessments.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory testing within scope of practice.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative patient education and follow-up care.
- Monitor patient recovery and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current California Physician Assistant license.
- DEA license.
- BLS certification.
- NCCPA certification preferred or required.
- Demonstrated excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Skills:
- Three or more years of orthopedic experience.
- Experience in orthopedic surgery.
- Background in total joint, knee, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care.
- Experience treating skiing, snowboarding, and other sports-related injuries.
