Lead Natural Organic Reduction Operator

Overview We’re looking for a Lead Natural Organic Reduction (NOR) Operator in Elkridge, Maryland. The role is a hands‑on position with management responsibilities for a new facility opening in March. Responsibilities Handle the NOR disposition process from acceptance to soil donation. Assist with day‑to‑day operations, soil testing, and vessel troubleshooting. Partner with facility technicians to minimize vessel downtime. Maintain a clean, orderly facility and monitor inventory and supplies. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (funeral law, environmental regulations, zoning, fire code, OSHA/EHS). Implement continuous improvement to enhance process efficiency. Serve as people manager for NOR operators, setting goals and monitoring progress. Build a strong team culture of respect, empathy, collaboration, and professionalism. Collaborate with Care and Sales teams to deliver outstanding customer experience to families. Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher. 3+ years experience at a funeral home or crematory. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Outstanding problem‑solving skills. Experience with IT systems (workflow management, inventory, CRM). Willingness to work evenings and weekends occasionally. Excitement about sustainable deathcare alternatives. Great to Haves Crematory operator or similar experience. Embalmer experience and certification. Active Maryland funeral director license. Forklift operation certification (training provided). Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces. Ability to wear required PPE (respirator, gloves, etc.). Ability to work in warm or cold environments. Timing Preferred start by mid‑February (or earlier) for training and facility prep.
