Auto Mechanic

Job Title

Performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and repairs to hospital vehicles, scooters, trailers, and maintenance equipment.

Essential Functions

• Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.
• Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and replacement of broken parts.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and equipment.
• Dismantles maintenance equipment and/or electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts; adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
• Isolates defective wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter, testing lamp or growler.
• Performs welding operations associated with installation and repair.
• Organizes and maintains an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; orders replacement parts.
• Keeps work area orderly, clean and safe; ensures proper care in use of equipment and supplies.
• Extracts data from sources such as repair/maintenance orders, reports and vehicle, equipment, and/or parts specifications.
• Assures complete and proper logging of files and work orders; records required cost computations of time spent and materials used for each completed requisition or work order.
• Monitors fuel supplies and schedules deliveries as needed.
• Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
• Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Experience: Four (4) years of related auto maintenance and equipment repair experience or training.
• Licensure or Certification: Capable of obtaining respirator certification. Must maintain a current TMC tug license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of mechanical and automotive repair.
• Skill in applying mechanical knowledge and safety rules in the performance of any repair process.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete routine reports, work orders, and correspondence.
• Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
