How You Will Make An Impact The Senior Scientist is primarily responsible for leading multi‑disciplinary, scientific and technical work that responds to marketplace needs and results in concrete organizational outcomes. The role advises division leadership, mentors staff, and is regarded as the “go to” person for one or more scientific or technical domains. Key Responsibilities Successfully lead multi‑disciplinary, multi‑company project teams in PI roles Develop and implement advanced techniques for measuring and modeling human states? Support test and evaluation efforts to assess training systems, simulators, learning technologies, and operational capabilities Apply advanced analytics, AI‑enabled assessment tools, and predictive modeling to improve training evaluation and performance feedback Serve as a thought partner to Aptima partners and customers, collaborating and maintaining knowledge of the marketplace to influence technical interest and direction Foster repeat relationships with external customers and partners Utilize deep technical expertise and cross‑disciplinary knowledge to identify new research questions and opportunities that are consumable and in demand from customers Lead proposals (e.g., SBIRs, BAAs, IDIQ Task Orders) in areas of expertise Advise division leadership on future research directions, methods, and technologies aligned with Human Centered Engineering Develop assessment strategies for simulator‑based training environments, including live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) systems Champion one or more technical areas or domains as the “go to” person within and outside the company Contribute to the design, development, and application of data mining, statistical analysis (including regression analysis, ANOVA, linear and nonlinear mixed‑effects models), machine learning, modeling, and digital signal processing methods Conduct all work in accordance with contractual compliance, all laws, and the core values of Aptima Requirements Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Experimental/Applied Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Industrial Organizational Psychology).
