Sanitation Driver I

Responsibilities Drives a rear loader sanitation vehicle and collects and disposes of solid waste in residential areas. Drives a rear loader sanitation vehicle and collects and disposes of solid waste from residential containers. Disposes of yard waste and large, bulky items. Travels to and from transfer station in order to dispose of waste materials. Cleans alleys in order to provide space for collection vehicles. Maintains and inspects vehicles and performs safety checks. Maintains records of work performed for supervision such as vehicle check lists, trip logs, Department of Transportation logs and repair reports. Substitutes in other positions as needed. Qualifications One year of experience working in the collection of waste materials preferred. Valid Texas Class B-CDL Driver's License or able to attain one within six months of hire. Knowledge of processes used in the collection and disposal of waste materials. Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. Skill in the use of various equipment and machinery such as hand and electrical power hand tools and heavy equipment utilized in disposal activities such as compactors, lifts, claws and various hydraulic systems as well as shovels, brooms and rakes. High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Texas Class C driver's license required.
