Details Float pool position within a teaching hospital, floating to PICU, NICU, pediatric medsurg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units Pediatric critical care patient population including PICU, NICU, and acute pediatric cases Patient ratio of 1:2 Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00 Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend required Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed Required to float within scope of practice per facility float policy Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted) Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending) Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient care Teaching hospital experience required Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred Previous NICU/PICU float pool travel experience considered in lieu of standard travel experience requirement Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Two professional references required Additional Information Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded through the facility's system Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance No RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to scheduling a start date Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have at least a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility Travelers reaching 365 total assignment days are not eligible to return, regardless of time away First-time travelers with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered American Traveler Job ID P-742093.
