Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject matter and a genuine passion for fostering a love of learning in students.
• Engage in reflective practices, continually evaluating and refining teaching methods to enhance effectiveness.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create, implement, and regularly review individualized education plans for students with special needs.
• Design and implement instructional plans aligned with curriculum standards, ensuring relevance and engagement for students.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with special needs.
• Lead an advisory group and oversee the implementation of our social-emotional curriculum within that class.
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, implementing effective behavior management strategies as needed.
• Handle conflicts or challenges within the classroom, promoting a respectful and supportive learning community using restorative practices.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate students' academic and developmental levels, and regularly monitor and document progress, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to ensure the utilization of best practices with students.
• Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in education through ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrate teamwork, actively modeling cooperation and helpfulness for students.
• Incorporate relevant technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences, promoting digital literacy skills.
• Effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, keeping them informed about progress, expectations, and any concerns.
• Promote a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment that respects and values diversity.

Job Type: Full-time

Starting Salary: $64,711.00 - $91,622.00 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred
• NYS Teacher Certification (Preferred)
  • If not certified, documented evidence of progress/pathway toward obtaining NYS Teacher Certification is required
• Dual certification in Special Education and a subject area (Preferred)

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Special education: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• NY State Teacher Certification (Preferred)
