As one of the busiest freestanding emergency rooms in the country, our Fairlane ER delivers fast, high-quality care for patients with urgent medical needs. Our on-site services include laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and a Walk-In Clinic, treating non-emergency concerns such as fever, eye infections, rashes, coughs, deep cuts, and fractures. Responsibilities Assists RNs and Providers with assessments, examinations and treatments as requested. The following list of treatments/examinations is not inclusive and may vary by Business Unit: drawing blood and collection of specimens; EKGs; splint/immobilizers applications; taking vital signs on adults and pediatric patients; inserting nasogastric tubes; urethral catheterization of adult patients; discontinuance of peripheral IVs; starting unmediated IVs Prepares and assists Providers with procedures such as suturing (preps patients and prepares sterile trays); application of casts; miscellaneous procedures including pelvic exams and lumbar punctures Assists patients as needed Recognizes potential life-threatening dysrhythmias and abnormal vital signs and reports them to RN/Provider Adheres to hospital policy addressing standard precautions, safety regulations and guidelines Documents patient care performed Interacts with patients and families as appropriate, ensuring excellent patient and customer experiences Transports patients and supplies Cleans equipment, monitors stock, and restocks equipment and supplies as required Assists in ordering routine equipment; maintains enough stretchers, wheelchairs, suction equipment, etc. in ER area Maintains departmental cleanliness and prepares rooms between patients Education/Experience Required High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required BCLS certification required Previous Emergency Department Technician, Medical Assistant experience preferred Certifications/Licenses Required
