Mechanical Assembler 1 - 1st Shift (Onsite)

Under direct supervision, this position performs routine and repetitive assembly operations and processes using simple hand tools and semi‑automatic manufacturing equipment, including welding, cutting, and measurement operations. Quality workmanship and safety compliance are required, along with adherence to all company, city, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities Learn to set up, assemble, and load parts. Demonstrate proper use of simple hand and machine tools and basic troubleshooting around machine setup and function. Accurately read and follow procedures, routing, and other work instructions. Maintain quality product standards with no defects and identify part defects for escalation. Build parts that meet customer deadlines and expectations while maintaining established safety and quality standards. Comply with applicable elements of quality systems and apply knowledge to product production. Participate in cost‑reduction plans and continuous‑improvement plans/events as required. Participate in audits with positive communication practices. Acquire applicable skill/knowledge/certifications as required. Track and stay compliant with site training and recertification requirements. Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning activities. Rotate to different workstations throughout the shift as business needs change. Complete assigned tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description to support department objectives and develop individual skills. Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and re‑instruct as required. Report to lead or supervisor on work progress and updates, including conditions surrounding failures to meet quality standards. Stand for 8+ hours and be available for overtime, including extended workdays and weekends. Comply with EH&S policies and procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and attend EH&S trainings as required. Report unsafe practices and/or conditions to appropriate individuals for prompt hazard resolution. Recommend improvements to EH&S practices to create a safer workplace. Successfully complete training modules associated with the job grade. Interpret schematics and/or technical drawings and follow assembly instructions. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline. Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
