Advanced Practice Provider, Melanoma/Sarcoma (956007) Job Summary: The Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), a National Cancer Institute‑designated Comprehensive Cancer Center affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center, seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Melanoma and Sarcoma Clinic team. The APP will provide outpatient oncology care for patients with melanoma, sarcoma, and other cutaneous malignancies while working closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and supportive care teams. The APP serves as a key clinical provider responsible for evaluating patients, managing systemic therapies— including immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and chemotherapy—interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies, coordinating multidisciplinary care, providing patient and family education, and managing treatment‑related toxicities and urgent oncology concerns. Candidates with prior melanoma, sarcoma, solid tumor oncology, or relevant oncology experience are strongly preferred. Veterans are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status. Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results. Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate and based on specialty and training. Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures. Facilitate or participate in quality‑related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols to improve clinical and system practice performance. Collaborate in research projects and protocols; routinely apply evidence‑based best practices to patient care. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of Advanced Practice Provider experience. Oncology experience required; melanoma, sarcoma, or solid tumor experience preferred. Graduate of a master’s degree or higher accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC‑PA) OR master’s degree or higher in nursing with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Licensure: Credentialed by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board OR licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing with prescriptive authority authorization. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or American Red Cross Life Support certification, as required by UT Southwestern policy for APPs. Proficiency in evaluating and managing oncology patients with a focus on melanoma and sarcoma. Education Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC‑PA) accredited Physician Assistant program. OR Master’s degree or higher in nursing with documentation of completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Licensure & Certification Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. OR Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
