This position is based out of our Herndon, VA location with the option of a remote work schedule.This is a senior level cross-functional engineering position, developing front and back-end software for our satellite products on a Linux platform.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement web application features using C++ and modern web frameworks and techniques, from requirements to production and deploymentAdd new functionality and solve customer facing bugs within an existing application (frontend and backend)Contribute to the architecture and design of new and existing User InterfacesPrepare prototypes/screen shots to share with stakeholders for review and approvalAdvise on best practices, new techniques, software quality and process improvementCreate, modify and maintain RESTful Web Services, GraphQL and other APIsDevelop applications built with C++, as well as Go, GraphQL, Vue, and similar modern technologiesAssist with estimation of time and effort required to implement new featuresParticipate in design reviews, peer code reviews and improve overall product qualityEffectively employ innovative problem-solving techniquesInterface with cross-functional teams to successfully implement feature dependenciesQualifications6+ years of experience in software developmentProven working experience with C/C++, object-oriented designs, front and back-end application developmentExperience developing and debugging software in a Linux environmentStrong expertise with various frameworks (Vue, Angular, etc.)Strong expertise with Web Services and RESTful ApplicationsExpertise with NodeJS, WebSockets and in-depth understanding of Microservices methodologiesFamiliarity with HTML5 and CSS3Familiarity with system level issues such as scaling, security, and responsivenessSolid programming experience in object-oriented design and developmentLinux or a POSIX O/S environmentFamiliarity with software configuration management, defect tracking tools, and peer reviewObject and Component Oriented DesignsTransmission security and cryptographic techniquesFamiliarity with software configuration management, defect tracking tools, and peer reviewStrong documentation and writing skillsAdditional experience in the following areas is a plus:C++, Java, or other object-oriented programming languageUnderstanding of SQL and database access for relational Databases; PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQLWorking knowledge of noSQL databases (MongoDB, etc.)Familiarity with Responsive Design Frameworks such as BootstrapFamiliarity with developing web interfaces for embedded devices a plusNetworking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP and IPv6Familiarity with Docker, GraphQL, Kubernetes, Go, Conan, cmake, C++11Familiarity with developing multi-threaded software applicationsKnowledge of communications and/or networking protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, IPv6, etc.Experience with cross-functional (hardware/firmware/software) development and verificationExperience in shell scripting using Perl, Lua, or Python and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8+Working knowledge of GCC, grep/awk/sed command line tools, bash scripting, GDB debugger, systemd suiteWorking knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Git, BitBucket, SharePoint, Jenkins and ArtifactoryEducation: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software, Systems, Mathematics, or related technical field.Clearance: Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain a secret level DoD clearance.Travel: 0-10%Pay Range:$125,156 - $159,370 iDirect Government is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
