Job Description
This role focuses on installing and maintaining temporary power and underground electrical systems on a large project site. You will lay conduit, pull cable, perform terminations, and operate light equipment in a demanding outdoor environment. The position requires journeyman-level electrical expertise, strong knowledge of codes and electrical theory, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities

• Install and maintain temporary power and underground electrical systems for construction and industrial projects.
• Lay conduit and pipe for underground and temporary power installations in accordance with electrical codes and project specifications.
• Pull cable and wire through conduit runs, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and organization.
• Perform terminations on electrical connections, including panels, switchgear, and other equipment, using proper techniques and safety practices.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.
• Install and wire panels, switchgear, and related electrical distribution equipment for temporary power systems.
• Use conduit bending techniques to run conduit neatly and efficiently, including working with various conduit sizes and materials.
• Operate equipment such as mini excavators or skid steers, as needed, to support underground electrical installations.
• Work in outdoor conditions, including dirt and mud, with frequent bending, kneeling, and physical activity throughout the day.
• Apply general electrical theory and code knowledge to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable installations.
• Participate in and successfully complete an electrical assessment covering power distribution, breaker sizing, and equipment identification, demonstrating broad electrical knowledge.
• Follow all site safety procedures, including proper use of tools and equipment, to maintain a safe work area for yourself and others.
• Collaborate with other team members and trades on-site to coordinate work and meet project schedules.
• Arrive on site early enough to be prepared and ready to begin work by the scheduled start time.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in installing and maintaining temporary power and underground electrical systems.
• Ability to lay conduit and pipe, pull cable, and perform electrical terminations safely and accurately.
• Experience with conduit bending, including using hand and mechanical benders to run conduit cleanly and to specification.
• Strong skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Demonstrated knowledge of power distribution, including understanding of distribution systems and components.
• Ability to size breakers correctly based on load and code requirements.
• Skill in identifying electrical equipment and components in the field and on drawings.
• Solid understanding of general electrical theory and the ability to apply it in practical field situations.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards and the ability to work in compliance with them.
• Ability to perform panel wiring and work with switchgear and other distribution equipment.
• Capability to work safely and effectively in outdoor environments with frequent bending and physical labor.
• Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including a schedule of 6 days per week with 10-hour shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating mini excavators or skid steers is a strong plus.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience in industrial or construction environments.
• Comfort working on projects where initial phases focus heavily on underground electrical work.
• Ability to achieve a score of 80% or higher on an electrical assessment covering broad electrical knowledge.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to performing neat, code-compliant installations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues in the field.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to arrive on site early enough to be ready to work by the scheduled start time.

Work Environment
This role is based in an outdoor construction environment where you will work primarily on underground and temporary power installations. The schedule typically consists of 6 days per week, Monday through Saturday, with 10-hour shifts (6-10s). Work generally begins around 7:00 a.m., and you are expected to arrive by approximately 6:30 a.m. to be ready to start. The site conditions include dirt, mud, and uneven terrain, and the work involves frequent bending, kneeling, and physical activity throughout the day. You will work in all types of weather, including hot, cold, wet, or windy conditions, and must be comfortable performing physically demanding tasks outdoors. Tools and technologies used include conduit benders, wiring tools, panels, switchgear, blueprints, and light equipment such as mini excavators or skid steers when required. Appropriate work attire should be durable and suitable for construction conditions, with safety gear as required by the site.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.97 - $45.97/hr.
