Locum Tenens Trauma Surgeon Opportunity

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Seeking a qualified Trauma Surgeon to provide coverage at a Level II Trauma Center, with approximately 15 shifts per month. The role includes trauma surgery, Emergency General Surgery (EGS), ICU coverage, and clinic responsibilities.

Practice Highlights:

• Level II Trauma Center
• Adult, geriatric, and pediatric patient population
• Inpatient, OR, and clinic services within the main hospital
• Team of 6 physicians and 12 advanced practice providers
• Teaching facility with resident rotations
• Epic EMR

Schedule & Coverage:

• 15 shifts per month
• 7:00 PM7:00 AM, in-house coverage
• 12-hour shifts
• Clinic coverage approximately one day per week, built into the schedule
• Nighttime EGS backup call shared with the team
• ICU coverage included

Candidate Requirements:

• Board-certified or truly board-eligible in the appropriate specialty
• Critical Care fellowship training required
• Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC Letter of Qualification (LOQ) required at name clear
• Clean malpractice and background history
• Must be able to provide trauma surgery coverage, not EGS-only coverage
• Must specify the number of shifts available per month
