Job Description

The Director of Health Information (HI) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of health information services and clinical documentation compliance within the organization. This leadership position ensures that patient data is accurate, secure, and accessible, supporting the delivery of high-quality care and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations. It is a key position on the Revenue Cycle Team. The Director works closely with clinical, financial, and administrative teams to maintain best practices in health information management, including compliance with legal, ethical, and technological standards.

Qualifications

Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management and seven to ten years of previous work-related experience. Certification required as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Certified Coding Specialist credential is a plus. Strong analytic, organizational and time management skills. Strong computer skills, working with Microsoft Office. Critical thinking and multi-tasking. Medical Terminology. Effective communication skills are necessary to collaborate with physicians.

Pay transparency : St. Joseph's Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc." The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.

About the Team

St. Joseph's University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.


The Medical Center offers a full complement of specialty and subspecialty services including ambulatory, behavioral health, cardiovascular, emergency/trauma, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic/spine, rehabilitation, surgical specialty, women's health, imaging and pediatrics.
