Position Overview

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse to join our Float Pool team. This role involves leveraging knowledge, research, and practical experience to enhance patient care and improve health outcomes. The ideal candidate will communicate effectively and collaborate with the healthcare team, utilizing appropriate resources to address patient needs and actively engage in discharge planning. Flexibility, along with strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills, is essential.

This advanced practice position entails collaborative management of patients in various settings, including inpatient medical-surgical, critical care, or hybrid (ambulatory and inpatient medical/surgical) environments. The role emphasizes the integration of knowledge and experience to ensure high-quality patient care and outcomes.

Float Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) will receive an additional $10 per hour as a specialty differential. Additionally, a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 is available, depending on experience, for those who have not been employed by our organization in the past two years.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations and interpreting the results.
• Diagnosing and managing common clinical issues within the designated patient population.
• Planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans in a collaborative manner.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions to support the treatment plan, and communicating findings to the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Engaging in discharge planning alongside the healthcare team.
• Documenting orders, prescriptions, and progress notes in the patient's medical record, as well as creating discharge summaries for primary care providers.
• Participating in daily patient care rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and educational activities.
• Effectively communicating the patient's condition and care plan to patients and their families, while providing health education and counseling in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Performing selected diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Engaging in both formal and informal teaching activities with nursing staff, physicians, interns, residents, and other healthcare team members.
• Maintaining clear and concise communication with the healthcare team and utilizing resources effectively to meet patient needs.
• Ensuring clinical competency and pursuing ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities, and self-assessment.
• Working 36 hours per week, with a schedule that includes up to 50% day/night rotation and every third weekend. Float APRNs will not be required to work on holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master of Science in Nursing.
• Experience: 1-3 years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred; pediatric experience is a plus.
• Licensure/Certifications: A valid Massachusetts NP license and certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner.
