Our mission is to deliver the essential building blocks of nuclear power—enabling cost-effective, safe, and secure energy for the world.The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician supports Standard Nuclear's manufacturing and laboratory operations by installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems. This role ensures that critical process equipment, sensors, and control systems operate reliably and in accordance with technical and safety requirements.This is a hands-on role working with a variety of industrial systems including sensors, transmitters, control loops, and automated equipment. The I&C Technician works closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to support system performance, resolve issues, and maintain safe and efficient operations.ResponsibilitiesInstrumentation & Controls MaintenanceInstall, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, gauges, and control devicesPerform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on control systems and equipmentDiagnose and repair issues with control loops, signal wiring, and instrumentation systemsSupport calibration of instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance with specificationsSystem Support & TroubleshootingTroubleshoot electrical and control system issues in manufacturing and laboratory environmentsWork with engineering teams to support system startup, commissioning, and modificationsAssist in identifying root causes of equipment or process issues and implement corrective actionsSupport integration and testing of new instrumentation and control systemsCalibration & DocumentationPerform and document calibration activities in accordance with company proceduresMaintain accurate records of maintenance, calibration, and system changesEnsure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements for instrumentation and controlsOperational SupportProvide on-the-floor support to manufacturing and technical teamsAssist operators and engineers in resolving equipment and process issuesSupport safe operation of equipment by ensuring instrumentation and controls function as intendedSite IT SupportServe as the on-site point of contact for basic IT support at the Idaho facility, in coordination with the Oak Ridge-based IT team.Assist with routine troubleshooting for workstations, printers, phones, network connectivity, conference room equipment, and other site technology.Support setup of user equipment, peripherals, and basic hardware as directed by IT.Help coordinate escalation of more complex IT issues to the Oak Ridge IT team or approved vendors.Maintain awareness of site technology needs and communicate recurring issues or risks to IT and facility leadershipSafety & ComplianceFollow all safety procedures and requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE usageSupport compliance with EH&S, quality, and regulatory requirementsIdentify and report unsafe conditions or equipment issuesSkills & QualificationsAssociate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field2–5 years of experience working with industrial instrumentation and control systemsExperience with sensors, transmitters, control loops, and industrial automation systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawingsExperience with calibration of instruments and use of calibration equipmentFamiliarity with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems is a plusStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environmentsExperience in nuclear, chemical, energy, or other regulated industries is a plusBenefitsHealth, Dental & Vision InsuranceHealth Savings AccountDisability and Life Insurance401K PlanPaid Time Off, HolidaysWork EnvironmentThis role is based on-site in Idaho Falls, ID and supports employees across office, engineering, and manufacturing environments.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
