Founding Full-Stack Engineer

Location: SoMa, San Francisco, CA — in person

Compensation: $150K–$250K base salary + meaningful early-stage equity

VizCo is a seed-stage startup based in San Francisco, founded by MIT and Stanford PhDs.

We believe enterprise AI adoption is blocked by a fundamental mismatch: companies have strict internal policies for how data can be processed, stored, shared, and retained, while many frontier AI providers do not naturally fit those requirements. VizCo exists to close that gap.

We are hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the product and infrastructure from the ground up. This is not a big-company engineering job. The work is ambiguous, the expectations are high, and early engineers will have direct influence over product, architecture, and company direction.

Our R&D organization is flat. Technical judgment matters more than hierarchy, and we are looking for people who want ownership rather than title inflation.

You will own important product and infrastructure decisions, ship production systems, and be accountable for the success of your work.

You should expect to:

• Build full-stack product experiences across backend and frontend systems
• Design and operate production infrastructure in Azure
• Work on systems related to enterprise AI, data governance, security, policy enforcement, and auditability
• Improve deployment, reliability, observability, and scalability
• Work directly with founders, customers, and other early engineers
• Make architecture decisions that shape the company’s technical foundation

We primarily work in Microsoft Azure , but strong experience with AWS or GCP should translate well.

• Deep expertise in TypeScript and Python
• Strong full-stack engineering ability across backend and frontend systems
• Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, including designing, deploying, and operating production systems
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, scaling, reliability, observability, and modern deployment practices
• Strong product and engineering judgment
• High execution velocity and comfort with ambiguity
• Experience building in small teams, startups, research labs, or other high-ownership environments
• Evidence of original thinking, such as projects, open-source work, technical writing, research, unusual work experience, or other examples of how you think and build
• Excitement about working in person in San Francisco
  

In your first few weeks, you will ramp on the product, codebase, Azure environment, infrastructure, and development workflow. You will begin hardening deployment fundamentals and contributing meaningful improvements.

Over the following months, you will own and ship important product features, improve architecture and scalability, and raise the engineering bar through strong judgment, execution, and ownership.

We meet in person every morning in SoMa for sync, planning, and brainstorming. After that, engineers typically work from SoMa office, with flexibility to work wherever they are most productive.
