Job Title: Construction Manager (Owner's Representative) – Hydroelectric Generation Location: Georgetown, CO 80444 Type: Contract Compensation: $90.00/hr. Work Model: Onsite Hours: 60.0 hours per week We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide owner-side construction management and field oversight for turbine, generator, and associated infrastructure projects at the Cabin Creek Hydroelectric Generating Station. This individual will serve as the owner's primary field representative, overseeing contractor activities and coordinating closely with project management, engineering, operations, safety, quality, commissioning, and other project stakeholders. The Construction Manager will help ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, technical specifications, and schedule objectives. Candidates must possess hands-on knowledge of hydroelectric generating facilities, including turbines, generators, and related mechanical and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction leadership, sound technical judgment, contractor oversight experience, and a proven track record supporting complex hydroelectric or power-generation projects.

Key Responsibilities: Construction Oversight & Project Execution

• Serve as the owner's primary construction representative in the field.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of EPC contractors, specialty contractors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, contracts, approved work plans, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Track contractor progress, staffing levels, productivity, and adherence to project schedules.
• Identify and escalate construction, safety, quality, schedule, and technical risks.

Hydroelectric Equipment Oversight

• Provide knowledgeable oversight of hydro turbine and generator work, including:
  • Disassembly and removal
  • Inspection and assessment
  • Refurbishment and repair
  • Installation and alignment
  • Reassembly and testing
• Monitor work involving major equipment installation, mechanical systems, structural components, concrete construction, rigging, demolition, and supporting electrical systems.
• Review equipment installation, alignment verification, testing activities, commissioning support, and turnover processes.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate interfaces among contractors, engineering, project management, plant operations, safety, quality, and commissioning teams.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings, schedule reviews, safety meetings, and pre-job planning sessions.
• Review upcoming work for constructability, sequencing, logistics, access, outage constraints, and operational impacts.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration between the owner and contractor teams.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed construction records, including daily reports, photographs, field observations, issue logs, and progress updates.
• Track RFIs, field changes, deficiencies, inspections, and open items through resolution.
• Provide regular updates and recommendations to project leadership regarding risks, contractor performance, schedule concerns, and corrective actions.

Safety Leadership

• Support the safe execution of critical activities, including:
  • Heavy lifts and rigging operations
  • Turbine and generator component handling
  • Confined space work
  • Demolition activities
  • Heavy equipment movement
  • Other high-risk construction operations

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in hydroelectric power generation construction, maintenance, major capital projects, or equipment overhauls.
• Practical field experience with hydroelectric turbines and generators.
• Experience supporting turbine and/or generator disassembly, overhaul, repair, refurbishment, installation, or major maintenance projects.
• Strong knowledge of hydroelectric generating unit components, including:
  • Turbines
  • Generators
  • Shafts and bearings
  • Governors
  • Lubrication systems
  • Cooling systems
  • Balance-of-plant equipment
• Significant experience in construction management, superintendent, field supervision, or senior construction leadership roles.
• Experience overseeing complex power generation, energy, or heavy industrial construction projects.
• Experience working within active generating facilities and coordinating work with plant operations.
• Strong understanding of construction safety, quality assurance, scheduling, and execution practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work packages, and technical documents.
• Experience coordinating multiple contractors and technical disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound field-based decisions.
• Proficiency in construction documentation, reporting, and issue tracking.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience supporting hydro turbine and generator rehabilitation or major overhaul projects.
• Experience working with turbine/generator OEMs and specialty hydro contractors.
• Knowledge of large rotating equipment installation, precision alignment, and commissioning.
• Heavy rigging and critical lift experience involving major hydroelectric components.
• Experience with dams, tunnels, underground facilities, structural concrete, and water-control infrastructure.
• Outage and shutdown execution experience.
• Prior experience serving as an owner's representative on hydroelectric projects.
• Experience supporting commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover of hydroelectric generating units.
