Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery / Postpartum

Location

Red Bluff, CA | Inpatient OB (L&D, Postpartum, Well-Baby Nursery)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every other weekend required | Holidays worked into permanent staff rotation | Schedules made 30–45 days in advance with some self-scheduling flexibility

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across a combined unit encompassing Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Well-Baby Nursery (10-bed unit)
• Manage and independently run labor and delivery, including high-risk deliveries (35 weeks and above), twin deliveries, and patients on withdrawal protocols; must be comfortable managing deliveries independently
• Deliver postpartum couplet care at a 1:4 ratio, following AWHONN guidelines; L&D ratios are typically 1:1–2
• Occasionally care for post-operative gynecological surgery patients on the postpartum side
• Document and monitor patients using Cerner EMR and Fetal Link fetal heart monitoring system
• Collaborate with a team that includes OB/GYNs, midwives, and a 24/7 available hospitalist; Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (or compact eligibility)
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• NCC Inpatient OB certification (RNC-OB) with Advanced FHM required
• Prior experience in both Labor & Delivery and Postpartum is required — candidates without both will not be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with high-risk obstetric patients, including preterm deliveries (35+ weeks), twin deliveries, and neonatal withdrawal protocols
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Fetal Link monitoring systems
• Experience working in a combined L&D/Postpartum/Well-Baby unit
• Strong teamwork orientation with the ability to function independently when needed
