Job Title: Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Location: Chicago, IL Compensation: $65,000 – $93,000/year Type: Full-time Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift) Sign-On Bonus: Yes Sponsorship: N/A Relocation: N/A Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. This role is critical in providing care to patients with complex and life-threatening conditions. You will utilize advanced nursing skills, monitor vital signs, administer life-saving interventions, and maintain critical care equipment. The ICU RN operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, providing constant attention to critically ill patients and ensuring the best possible outcomes. Key Responsibilities Nursing Process: Use critical thinking skills and nursing assessments to plan, implement, and evaluate care for ICU patients. Patient Care: Perform diagnostic tests, follow-up visits, monitor recovery, and respond to emergencies as needed. Critical Care Equipment: Operate and maintain ICU equipment such as ventilators and life support systems. Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs and recovery, intervening as necessary to stabilize patient health. Therapeutic Relationships: Build trust and communication with patients and families, ensuring emotional support and collaboration in setting care goals. Wound Care: Assist in the management of surgical sites and wounds, ensuring proper care and healing. Quality Improvement: Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality, nursing engagement, and care outcomes. Calm Under Pressure: Maintain composure in critical situations, ensuring high-quality patient care at all times. Qualifications Education: ADN, BSN, or MSN from an accredited nursing program (Preferred). Licensing: Valid and active RN license (Required). Certifications: BLS CPR certification (Required). ACLS from the American Heart Association (Required). Experience: ICU work experience (Required). 2+ years of nursing experience, with ICU or PACU experience preferred (Required). Skills: Ability to work variable hours and remain composed under pressure. Working Conditions Hours: 12-hour shifts; Day Shift (7 AM – 7:30 PM) or Night Shift (7 PM – 7:30 AM). Ability to work various hours as needed to meet the demands of the unit. Important Information Must-Haves: ADN, BSN, or MSN from an accredited nursing program (Preferred). Valid and Active RN license (Required). BLS CPR certification from AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network (Required). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (Required). ICU work experience (Required). 2+ years of nursing experience (ICU or PACU preferred). Ability to work variable hours. Shift Options: 7 AM – 7:30 PM (Day Shift) or 7 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift).
