Vascular TechnologistThis position works under limited supervision to provide advanced technical skills in the performance of non-invasive tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. Responsibilities include performing a full range of non-invasive vascular tests and related duties in patient care and academic/research environment.Essential Job Functions:Operates ultrasound equipment for data acquisition, documentation of images and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.Prepares a summary of technical findings for interpretation by vascular surgeon.Provides preliminary technical interpretations to ordering physician(s).Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice.Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.Provides assistance to rotating students, interns, and residents.Performs data collection for quality assurance and research programs.Practices safety measures in Environment of Care.Assists the Technical Manager/Director with the maintenance of laboratory accreditation via ICAVL and JCAHO through standardized protocols.Participates in research projects.Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all timesIs self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of vascular disease and new procedures, as they evolve.Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.Minimum Education / Experience:Must meet one of the three following educational/experience requirements plus current BLS certification:Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular technology training program (1-4 years) must be registry eligible with application for current year ORGraduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with 1 full additional year of full-time clinical experience in a dedicated vascular lab and registry eligible with application for current year ORApproximately two years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences with two years experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory and registry eligible with application for current year.Certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible with application in current year.Preferred Qualifications:Current RVT or RVS strongly preferredWork Schedule:Up to 19.99 hours per week, no set schedule. Not a benefits-eligible position. Will travel to other UTMB campuses as needed for coverage.Equipment:Ultrasound equipment and other laboratory equipment commonly used in a non-invasive laboratory.
