Job Overview
Our organization is in search of a Thoracic Surgeon proficient in all facets of general thoracic surgery to become a part of our team within the Thoracic Surgery Section. We welcome applications from surgeons at various stages of their careers. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the growth of the program, provide multidisciplinary clinical leadership, and engage in the academic advancement of a high-volume cancer care initiative. Mid-career professionals may find leadership roles available.
Position ResponsibilitiesThis faculty role encompasses a comprehensive practice in general thoracic surgery and thoracic surgical oncology, addressing all types of esophageal conditions, both benign and malignant, as well as lung, chest wall, and mediastinal issues. Applicants should possess significant experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery. A strong dedication to multidisciplinary cancer care, clinical outcomes, research, and education is highly valued.
About Our OrganizationWe serve as the Southeast hub for patient care within the MD Anderson Cancer Network®, in collaboration with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and are a distinguished program within the Baptist Health System. The thoracic surgery program operates out of Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, a 529-bed tertiary referral facility located in one of Florida's rapidly expanding regions.
Candidate ExpectationsWe are looking for candidates who will:
Establish a robust clinical practice in thoracic surgical oncology.
Contribute to the growth of the program, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of care pathways.
Engage actively in scholarly and educational activities.
Collaborate effectively within a well-established multidisciplinary cancer program.
Enhance relationships with regional and external referring physicians.
Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited thoracic surgery residency, be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and possess or be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in Florida. Candidates may also be considered for an Adjunct Faculty position at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, based on their clinical and academic achievements.
