Duties

Help

• Monitor multi-panel intrusion detection, security alarm, and surveillance systems covering arms, ammunition, and explosives storage areas.
• Investigate traffic accidents, crimes against persons/property (theft, assault, sabotage, domestic disputes), and breaches of Mission Essential Vulnerable Areas.
• Apprehend, subdue, detain, and process violators; advise suspects of legal rights; testify in federal, state, or magistrate court.
• Operate the emergency communications and dispatch console; receive emergency (911) and routine calls.
• Dispatch patrols and coordinate response efforts with fire, medical, and external law enforcement units.
• Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal and perform background checks for base access and warrant verifications.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent must pass initial and annual physical medical examinations.
• Incumbent must pass initial and semi-annual weapons qualifications.
• Designated drug-testing position - must pass initial drug test and subject to random drug testing (sign DA5019).
• This position is Mission Essential.
• Incumbent must possess a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
• Incumbent must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (sign DD2760).
• Incumbent must pass initial and annual Physical Ability Test (PAT), IAW AR 190-56.
• Incumbent must meet annual training and re-certification requirements.
• Incumbent must complete initial and annual CPR and First-Aid requirements.
• Incumbent must be able to work shifts, overtime, and weekends, as required.
• Incumbent must wear the prescribed uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene.
• Incumbent must be able to wear chemical-protection equipment, as required.
• Incumbent must successfully complete the Civilian Police Academy.
• This position is designated Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain Cyber work role: level: 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. I have one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level which includes conducting traffic enforcement, and physical security patrols across an installation or complex facility; performing preliminary and follow-up investigations of crimes, accidents, and security breaches; operating law enforcement dispatch, communications consoles, and automated systems, and training lower-graded officers/trainees in police procedures. (GS-07).
