Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for an Echocardiographer!

Job Description:
- Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures and assist a trained cardiology attending during stress echocardiogram and TEE procedures.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Execute echocardiograms including:
- 2-D M-Mode
- Color flow imaging
- Stress echo
- TEE
- Doppler studies
- Demonstrate knowledge of Strain and 3D echocardiography.
- Obtain patient history and conduct procedures as ordered.
- Assist patients onto and off the bed with care and compassion.
- Notify supervisor of acute or life-threatening abnormalities and communicate abnormal studies directly to the cardiologist.
- Obtain digital acquisition and storage of echo studies for physician interpretation.
- Transport equipment to patient rooms for bedside studies.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain echocardiography equipment while reporting any breakdowns and supply needs.
- Complete and process billing charge requisition, log books, worksheets, and reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by preparing the room for the next patient.
- Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques according to policy and procedure.
- Identify and respond to the needs of the patient population served, including:
- Age
- Culture
- Language
- Hearing and/or visual impairments
- Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers at their level of understanding.
- Adhere to accrediting standards and the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
- Assist in training new employees in the cost center.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and monitoring.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

Skills Required:
- Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques.
- Document at least 15 hours of echocardiography-related continuing education over three (3) years.
- Maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education for facility accreditation or individual licensing requirements.

Preferred Skills:
- One-year clinical echocardiography experience preferred.
- Two years of prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or invasive procedure area preferred.
- Experience in vascular testing is a must.

Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a certified cardiovascular technology school or an accredited ultrasonography program specializing in cardiac sonography, with RDMS or RDCS.

Certifications Required:
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certification.
- Maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification within 30 days of hire.

Certifications Preferred:
- One-year clinical echocardiography experience preferred.
- Two years of prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or invasive procedure area preferred.
- RVT or RVS certification is a must.

Schedule Notes:
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 5x 8hr shifts.
- No weekends, no holidays, no on-call.
