Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Lewiston, Maine. This role involves providing direct and indirect nursing care within a dynamic long-term care and skilled nursing facility environment. The successful candidate will partner with residents and an interdisciplinary team to foster a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic setting for a diverse patient population.

The facility features specialized units, including a 31-bed unit dedicated to Alzheimer's/Dementia care, focusing on tailored approaches, effective communication techniques, and understanding complex behaviors. Additionally, a 42-bed Transitional Rehabilitation Unit provides short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patients recovering from various conditions such as fractures, joint replacements, and strokes, often involving IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment. A 42-bed long-term care unit also provides comprehensive care in a home-like environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct and indirect nursing care to residents across various units.
• Collaborate with residents, families, and other care providers to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, particularly for residents with Alzheimer's/Dementia, utilizing both verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Assess and manage challenging behaviors associated with dementia, recognizing them as potential forms of communication.
• Deliver short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patients recovering from acute illnesses or injuries, including post-surgical care.
• Perform specialized nursing interventions such as IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessments.
• Contribute to a home-like environment for long-term care residents.
• Maintain flexibility to float to other units as needed to support patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of previous Registered Nurse experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.
• Proficiency in medical terminology.
