Staff RN -Immediate Care

Central Carolina Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to join our perioperative team in Sanford, NC. As an OR Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care before, during, and after surgical procedures, supporting our mission to deliver safe, high-quality healthcare to the community. In this role, you will function as both a circulating and, when applicable, a scrub nurse, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure each patient receives meticulous, compassionate care in a state-of-the-art surgical environment.

The Registered Nurse, Operating Room, is responsible for conducting thorough preoperative assessments, verifying patient identity, procedure, and site, reviewing medical history and laboratory results, and ensuring informed consent and readiness for surgery. You will prepare the operating room by checking equipment, supplies, medications, and instruments for accuracy, sterility, and availability, maintaining strict adherence to aseptic and infection-prevention standards. During procedures, you will monitor the patient’s status, support airway and hemodynamic stability as directed by anesthesia and the surgical team, anticipate the needs of the surgeon, and maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps to promote optimal patient safety.

The OR RN will document all aspects of care in the electronic medical record, including assessments, interventions, responses, and communications, ensuring accurate and timely charting in line with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will prioritize and manage multiple patients and procedures, participate in room turnover and case preparation, and respond rapidly and effectively to urgent and emergent situations within the operating suite.

You will be expected to maintain current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications and to demonstrate competency in OR-specific procedures, equipment, and emergency response. The role may involve participation in on-call rotations, variable shifts, and occasional weekend or holiday coverage to meet patient and surgical service needs.
