Perfecto Staffing has a client in Kearny, NJ with an immediate need for a detail-oriented Powder Coating Technician to join their manufacturing team. This is a temp-to-hire opening. In this role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality powder coatings to a variety of metal products, ensuring they meet strict quality standards and safety protocols. Your expertise will contribute to the production of durable, visually appealing finished goods, supporting our commitment to excellence in industrial painting and finishing. Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour (BOE)

Shift: MON-FRI/7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job description:

Duties

· Prepare surfaces for coating by performing construction painting surface preparation and using hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to ensure optimal adhesion.

· Operate spray guns, airless paint spraying equipment, and conventional spray systems to apply powder coatings uniformly across various components.

· Interpret production documents and specifications to accurately follow coating procedures and ensure consistency with quality standards.

· Handle materials safely using proper materials handling techniques and adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, including respirator use and respiratory protection measures.

· Maintain equipment such as coating spray guns, spray booths, and finishing stations through routine cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting.

· Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished products for coating quality, surface defects, or inconsistencies.

· Use precision measuring instruments and basic math skills to verify dimensions and coating thicknesses meet specifications.

· Operate forklifts and cranes for materials handling within the warehouse or production area safely.

· Support lean manufacturing initiatives by maintaining organized workstations and minimizing waste during production finishing processes.

· Document production activities accurately, including quality checks, process adjustments, and safety compliance logs.

Experience

· Previous experience in industrial painting or powder coating is highly preferred; familiarity with automotive or construction painting surface preparation is a plus.

· Hands-on knowledge of coating application techniques such as conventional spraying, airless paint spraying, or powder coating methods.

· Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and fabrication processes.

· Understanding of safety protocols related to PPE use, respirator maintenance, respiratory protection, and general workplace safety standards.

· Warehouse experience involving materials handling with forklifts or cranes is advantageous.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings or production documents accurately; basic math skills are essential for measuring coating thicknesses or component dimensions.

· Knowledge of quality standards in manufacturing environments ensures products meet customer expectations consistently.
