Essential Functions Addresses environmental, attendance, and behavioral factors that impact educational adjustment and academic success for the purpose of identifying barriers, developing appropriate interventions and support plans, and promoting student well‑being, engagement, and academic achievement. Assesses students experiencing mental health concerns and collaborates with appropriate school and community professionals for the purpose of identifying needs, coordinating appropriate interventions, and supporting student well‑being and academic success. Assists in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions, coordinated support strategies, and educational programs for students requiring additional behavioral supports or receiving special education and related services for the purpose of addressing individual student needs, promoting positive behavior, and supporting a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment. Assists students in developing self‑awareness, self‑acceptance, conflict resolution skills, healthy coping strategies, appropriate social interaction skills, and positive peer relationships for the purpose of strengthening social‑emotional competencies, improving self‑regulation, promoting positive behavior, and supporting healthy relationships and student success. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, psychologists, nurses, and community agencies for the purpose of coordinating comprehensive student support services. Connects students and families with school, community, and agency resources, including services for students with disabilities and other special needs for the purpose of coordinating support services, reducing barriers to learning, and promoting student well‑being, educational success, and family engagement. Develops and delivers professional development, in‑service training, and consultation for school staA related to student mental health, social‑emotional learning, behavioral interventions, and cultural, societal, economic, familial, and health factors aAecting student performance and behavior for the purpose of increasing awareness, supporting informed decision‑making, and implementing eAective strategies to promote student success. Develops intervention strategies for the purpose of improving academic achievement, attendance, and student engagement. Identifies and reports suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state law, district policy, and mandatory reporting requirements for the purpose of ensuring student safety, protecting student well‑being, and complying with legal and ethical obligations. Mobilizes family, school, and community resources for the purpose of enabling students to participate successfully in their educational program. Obtains, coordinates, and monitors school, community, social service, and mental health resources to meet the educational, behavioral, and mental health needs of students and families for the purpose of ensuring access to appropriate support services and advocating for services that promote student success. Participates in meetings, professional learning, and district activities for the purpose of maintaining professional competence and ensuring effective service delivery. Participates in special education evaluations, multidisciplinary team meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for the purpose of identifying student needs and supporting educational planning. Prepares social and developmental histories for students with disabilities for the purpose of supporting eligibility determinations and educational planning. Provides consultation and support to teachers, administrators, and school personnel regarding applicable school law, district policy, IDEA, Section 504, classroom behavior management strategies, student needs, and appropriate interventions for the purpose of ensuring compliance, guiding eAective decision‑making, improving student behavior, and enhancing learning environments. Provides individual, group, and family counseling for the purpose of addressing students' social, emotional, behavioral, and educational needs. Works collaboratively with parents and guardians to address barriers and family stressors that interfere with student learning and school participation for the purpose of promoting positive school adjustment, strengthening family support systems, and supporting student success. Works with Crisis Agency for the purpose of supporting any follow‑up intervention services for students experiencing behavioral, emotional, or family crises. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the counseling services. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/orfacilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to education and social work; IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, McKinney‑Vento, and mandated reporting requirements; principles and practices of school social work; child and adolescent development; social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health assessment and intervention strategies; crisis prevention and intervention; trauma‑informed practices; family systems and community resources; case management principles; special education procedures and eligibility requirements; positive behavioral intervention and support strategies; conflict resolution and restorative practices; cultural competency; and ethical standards governing the social work profession. SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: conducting social and developmental assessments; providing individual, group, and family counseling; crisis intervention and de‑escalation; developing intervention and behavior support plans; coordinating case management services; facilitating multidisciplinary meetings; collaborating eAectively with families, school personnel, and community agencies; preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports; collecting and analyzing student data; presenting professional development and training; utilizing community resources to support students and families; operating standard oAice equipment and applicable computer software; and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with legal and professional standards. ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job‑related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
