Bilingual Legal Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bilingual Legal Assistant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Novato, CA. This role is ideal for a legal support professional with 1-2 years of experience who is fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys client communication, legal document preparation, and structured case support work.

The Bilingual Legal Assistant will support a busy legal services environment focused on high-volume release processing, Compromise and Release documents, client follow-up, electronic document routing, and case tracking. Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, revise, and process Compromise and Release documents using firm templates or documents provided by defendants.
- Send legal documents to clients through DocuSign or mail, then review returned documents for complete and accurate execution.
- Prepare and include related forms and supporting documents, including Request for Dismissal, exposure and medical information forms, non-Medicare eligibility forms, and Successor-In-Interest declarations when applicable.
- Process releases involving active defendants and bankrupt defendants, including Trust website uploads and mailing documents as needed.
- Maintain accurate internal logs and case tracking records throughout the full release process.
- Communicate with clients by phone regarding outstanding documents, release questions, Medicare eligibility, and related case matters.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $25 to $28 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare and process legal release documents for active and bankrupt defendants.
- Review executed client documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate with clients in English and Spanish regarding legal documents and case-related questions.
- Maintain internal tracking logs and support high-volume legal workflow deadlines.

- 1-2 years of legal experience required.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, including the ability to read, write, and translate documents.
- Comfortable speaking with clients by phone and answering document-related questions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent computer skills, including comfort working with electronic documents and case tracking systems.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a legal support team.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with legal document preparation, client releases, or litigation support processes is helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience using DocuSign or similar electronic signature platforms.
- Experience supporting paralegals, attorneys, or legal case teams in a high-volume legal services environment.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation, LHWCA, asbestos, personal injury, bankruptcy trust, or settlement release processes.
