Escort offenders to and from appointments and places of confinement. Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to offender behavior and welfare. Maintain discipline and exercise control of offenders to prevent riots, escapes, and fires. Assist in supervising feeding of offenders and enforce regulations of sanitation and personal care. Conduct perimeter checks inside and outside of all buildings; maintain counts of offenders. Complete reports and perform other related duties as assigned. What you’ll need to be Successful Ability to abide by the MS State Personnel Board and MDOC rules, regulations, and procedures; operate in accordance with state and federal laws. Demonstrated sound decision-making and effective communication skills to ensure safety, security, and order of the facility. Qualifications Typically requires graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma). 0-2 years of correctional or secure facility experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age; must complete the training program at the Mississippi Department of Corrections or equivalent within another state as approved by MDOC.
