Senior QE EngineerLocation: Los Angeles, CAJob Description: Senior QE Engineer – Test Execution HarnessAbout ORBIT: ORBIT is an AI-driven, specification-based Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) platform where specifications serve as the single source of truth. Rather than documenting downstream artifacts, ORBIT generates them directly from the specifications. The platform encompasses Requirements Authoring, Test Data Management (TDM), Code Generation, and the Quality Engineering (QE) Test Harness within a unified ecosystem. Built on three core principles—Agent-First, Input-Flexible, and Deterministic—ORBIT is deployed on Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA), utilizes Snowflake as its enterprise data platform, and leverages Portkey as its AI gateway.Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior QE Engineer to lead the modernization of ORBIT's Quality Engineering Test Execution Harness. The current QE harness operates as an IDE-based tool driven manually through a sequence of commands including Story, Client, Generate, Validate, Heal, Promote, Stability, and Run. This role will transform the harness into a scalable, server-side ORBIT service running on ROSA, capable of API- and event-driven execution while maintaining IDE integration as one of several supported entry points. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in backend platform engineering, test automation, distributed systems, and AI-assisted software development.Key Responsibilities:Design and implement a scalable, headless, multi-tenant QE execution service.Re-architect the existing IDE-based test harness into a server-side platform running on ROSA.Develop durable orchestration supporting queued, scheduled, and event-driven test execution.Integrate the QE harness with the ORBIT end-to-end SDLC pipeline, including: Requirements ManagementSpecification RecordsCode GenerationTest GenerationTest ExecutionPromotion WorkflowsIntegrate with Test Data Management (TDM) using its two-lane architecture.Connect with the Repository Knowledge Plane to enable intelligent automation.Implement telemetry, execution analytics, flake detection, and stability scoring.Develop quality gates that automatically determine promotion readiness.Collaborate with architects, developers, and AI engineering teams to continuously improve platform reliability and automation.Required Qualifications:8+ years of software engineering experience with recent focus on backend or platform engineering.Proven experience re-platforming IDE-based tools into scalable shared services.Strong programming experience with Python and/or TypeScript.Experience designing REST APIs and event-driven distributed systems.Deep understanding of automated testing frameworks including: PlaywrightSeleniumGherkin / BDDExperience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.Hands-on experience with Agentic AI or LLM orchestration frameworks such as: LangGraphCrewAIStrandsExperience implementing deterministic controls around probabilistic AI components.Knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift environments; ROSA experience is highly preferred.Familiarity with Snowflake and AI gateway architectures.Understanding of LLM token usage, cost optimization, and AI infrastructure economics.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Test Data Management (TDM) or synthetic data generation platforms.Experience modernizing legacy or brownfield enterprise applications.Insurance industry experience is preferred.Top 5 Required Skills:Python and/or TypeScript backend developmentTest Automation (Playwright, Selenium, Gherkin/BDD)API design and event-driven architectureKubernetes/OpenShift (ROSA preferred)Agentic AI / LLM frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, Strands)All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
