Position Title: High School History Teacher Employment Type:Full Time, 10 month Appointment Type:Regular, SY26-27 FLSA Status:Exempt Classification:HSTA BU05 , Certificated Salary Range: $56,918.00- $95,632.00 Requisition #:REQ-SY2627-TCH-010 Position Overview Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA), a statewide public charter school, seeks a dynamic and innovative High School History Teacher to deliver engaging instruction within a blended learning environment. This position supports HTA’s mission-driven instructional model through both face-to-face and virtual learning modalities. The ideal candidate demonstrates instructional excellence, adaptability, creativity, innovation and a commitment to supporting students academically and socially in alignment with the school’s approved charter contract and state reporting requirements. Example of Duties (include but are not limited to): Providing daily face-to-face and/or online instruction to students in various high schoolHistory courses Preparing courses and designing project-based lessons; Serving as a high school advisor with a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus in line with school guidelines Holding tutoring sessions with individual students and small groups; Organizing subject-specific field trips and projects in accordance with school safety and administrative approval protocols. Researching and developing best practices in blended learning History curricula for high school school students as part of Professional Development expectations Working collaboratively with Administration and the middle school team; Participating in required meetings, professional development, and school events. Start Date:SY2026-2027. July 27, 2026.New Hire Training July 23-24, 2026. Minimum Qualifications: Valid Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) teaching license appropriate to the position. Preferably Social Studies or History license A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in English Literature, Writing, History, or Education A minimum of three years experience teaching a wide range of middle or high school History courses. If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the HTA PCS. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in. Salary Range: $56,918.00- $95,632.00 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Submit Form 5 or Personnel Action Form,if applicable. BENEFITS Paid Sick Leave and State/Federal Holidays:10-month teachers receive 18 days of paid sick leave (of which 10 days can be utilized for personal and/or professional development purposes) during the school year provided that all conditions under the respective collective bargaining agreement are met. Group Life Insurance:The State provides a free life insurance policy for employees and retirees. Employee Assistance Program paid by Employer. Premium Conversion Plan:Participating employees may increase their take-home pay by having the State deduct the cost of health care premiums before payroll taxes are withheld. Flexible Spending Accounts:Eligible employees can reduce their federal and state income taxes and social security taxes through a tax-savings benefit program calledFSA -Health and Dependent Care Assistance (DCAP) This program allows employees to set aside money from their paychecks to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and eligible dependent care expenses on a BEFORE-TAX basis. Retirement Plan:The State contributes to a retirement plan for eligible employees. Generally, employees with at least 10 years of credited service and who have reached 62 years of age or have 30 years of credited service and are 55 years old may retire and receive benefits. For more information, please visit ERS . 403B - Retirement Plan:If eligible, Department employees are able to participate in a tax shelter annuity program. The TSA plan allows eligible employees to contribute pre-tax dollars to an employee-selected investment service provider authorized to provide TSA products. Temporary Disability Insurance:Qualified employees may be eligible to receive benefits for a disability caused by a non-work related injury or illness under this program. Social Security:As an employer, the State also contributes to an employee's social security account. Workers' Compensation:If an employee is injured while on the job, benefits covering medical expenses and partial wage support may be available through workers' compensation. Union & Collective Bargaining:Employees have the right to join the union for collective bargaining with the State and employee representation.
